The Inter-Counties took place at our club over the weekend of 12th/13th October with us hosting over 150 matches played between the five counties of Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Shropshire and Warwickshire. It proved a great success and was well supported across the days.

Representing Leicestershire from our club was Jackson Bowden (no.2 U15's) Finley Brown (no.1 U11's), Oscar Brown (no.2 U11's) and William Brooks (no.3 U11's). Exemplary behaviour was witnessed by both our players and all those that participated with every match fought competitively and with the greatest respect.

We received countless compliments about out great club and a special thanks goes out to the bar staff and also to Chris and Gill Salter for their tireless work ensuring everyone experienced the very best of Hinckley hospitality!

Under 11's Results Write-Up

Match 1 Warwickshire B
William Brooks led the charge for the team in the first match and having took his time in the first he played himself into the match. The first game lost he regrouped and took the second game to 16-14 saving match points on the way. His determination and shot making proved too strong in the deciding 3rd game to put the first point on the board for team Leicestershire.

Oscar took the second match on with a nice and steady performance showing a great deal of respect and sportsmanship for his opponent.

The final rubber was played in equally good spirits with Finley a brown the victor in a 2-0 win to give Leicestershire a 3-0 Match win and set them off to a great start in their 2022/23 campaign. Next stop Oxfordshire.

Match 2 Oxfordshire
The next match started with William Brooks continuing where he left off serving well and putting his opponent under pressure from the start.

Oscar Brown displayed a ruthless streak in the first game to take it 11-0 and eased off in the next game to take a comfortable win for the team.

Finley Brown was pushed hard in the first game at 6-6 but moved up a gear to clinch it and continued his form in the second game to take another 3-0 match for the team. On to the next match which will be the toughest of the day Warwickshire A.

Match 3 Warwickshire A
William came out of the blocks in the first match against an unorthodox opponent taking a blow from the squash ball midway through the first game. He composed himself to play well but could not pull the game back and succumbed to some excellent serving from his opponent in the second.

Oscar and Finley had more challenging matches in the 2nd and 3rd strings but maintained their composure to complete 2-0 victories and seal the 3rd match for Leicestershire 2-1 and a place in the Final next February.

Final Match Shropshire
Our three amigos took to the court against Shropshire for the final match of the day. William showed great resilience against a strong opponent taking the match to the final game in a 1-2 thriller.

Oscar held his head in what could have been a tricky encounter to remain unbeaten as did his brother to round of a successful day for Leicestershire U11’s with a 2-1 win over Shropshire and take them through to the Inter-counties finals weekend early next year.
