In early February, Finley, Oscar and Grace Brown took on the best of England at the 2025 English Junior Squash Championships in Nottingham.
Grace, currently ranked 10th in England had a tough opener against the number 5 seed in England, who didn’t let her get into her stride. After such a tough start and in a high quality field of determined opponents, Grace held her nerve winning her final match 3-2 to finish on a high and gain valuable experience from the event to take onto the next tournament.

Oscar and Finley, seeded 1 and 2 for the event, had the pressure of defending their rankings against an eager chasing field, which is no easy task. The early rounds were pretty straightforward for them both with Oscar having to dig deep in the quarter-finals having lost the first game.
When it came to the semi-finals on Sunday morning, they were pitted against the 2 and 4 seeds who were looking to take their first win over the Brown brothers. Gutsy performances Oscar and Finley both win 3-2 to get to the final on the all-glass show court to play each other for the English title.
On this occasion it was Finley who was the victor (Oscar having won their previous contest, taking the British title last Autumn) after a hard-fought match of high-energy rallies and accurate shot placement. Their success at this event has guaranteed them selection to represent England in April in France in the annual 5 Nations Competition, and we wish them the very best of luck as they continue to represent us at the highest level!
