Wishing you a Happy New Year!

We have lot's going on this year, and a fresh new look.

Another year is upon us, and it's often a time when we set our sights on achieving sporting targets and hitting those health goals. Hopefully we have a few ideas to help in that regard.

Personally speaking, I've had chance to give the email newsletter design a bit of a refresh with a view to making it more informative, readable and deliverable. Hopefully you enjoy these infrequent club updates to your inbox, but if not there is a link at the end of the email where you can unsubscribe from future editions.

Anyway, there's quite a lot to promote this time (they won't all be this lengthy) so I'll get on with it...

We are hosting the first UK Racketball Camp - Four Places Reserved for Club Members. BE QUICK!

5th - 6th April 2025

We are thrilled to be hosting this training camp, graded competition and exhibition, presented by UK Racketball.

This consists of two days of UK Racketball action, with bootcamp training on each (booked separately), an evening Racketball Graded event, and an Exhibition between two of the UK's top Racketballers on the Saturday - Mike Harris and our very own Ali Mutch!

These Camp days are open to players that either compete in the UK Racketball Series or National events, or who play club team Racketball from across the UK.

Follow the link below for pricing, and please contact Mike Harris at admin@uk-racketball.com to register interest or book yourself in.

Be quick, because our reserved places are first-come, first-served, and go on sale to the wider public on February 15th!

Club members can come and watch the exhibition for free on Saturday 5th April at 7.30pm.

There's still some spaces left at our upcoming Charity Race Night

January 18th • First Race at 7.30pm

To celebrate and support club member Gaz Short climbing Mount Kilimanjaro next month for Birmingham Children's Hospital, we are hosting a Race Night at the club on the 18th January, all with the aim of raising money for a great cause. It's a family event and welcome to anybody (including non-members), so youngsters can come and try their luck too.

Tickets at £10 for adults and £7 for kids, which includes food (curry for the adults, hot dog and chips for the kids), with the first race starting at 7.30pm.

There are 8 races through the night. Horses in each race can be sponsored for £2, for a chance to win a bottle. Entire races can also be sponsored too for £20, for the chance to win magnum of fizz.

Don’t fall at the first hurdle and beat the odds by getting your ticket today for a fun packed evening!

Table Tennis and Snooker Leagues

Those of you who prefer hitting a ball around some furniture may have noticed that we have now started both Table Tennis and Snooker leagues, much in the same vein as our squash and racketball leagues.

The details for the table tennis leagues and how to sign-up are stuck to the underside of the table behind court 3.

The details for the snooker leagues and how to sign-up are on the window ledge by the snooker table.

Each league has over 16 entrants already, so we encourage you to add your names to the list and get involved!

Not long now until the one-day Wooden Rackets Competition

Saturday January 18th from 4.30pm

Not just for big hitters, the Wooden Rackets comp is a great equaliser so why not go against the grain (ahem) and put your name down to compete!

This year it's being run just before the Charity Race Night mentioned above, with proceeds going to the same charity.

  • Add your name to the noticeboard sheet if you wish to take part in this timber-based spectacular.
  • Wooden rackets are provided. Many of these have outlasted their original owners.
  • Period sportswear or fancy-dress is encouraged, especially for better players, but is not mandatory.
  • Games will take place across the afternoon.
  • No forfeits for either awful or exceptional play.

Come along and have some fun at our annual afternoon comp to test your prowess with a wooden wand. All standard welcome, just put your name down on the noticeboard sheet, turn up on the day and pay the £5 entry fee.

Upcoming Home Team Fixtures

Why not come along to the club to support our teams in action in the following upcoming fixtures?

Get involved in your club!

We want to remain a volunteer-run to keep your fees low. Can you dedicate an hour a week to help us?

Our club operates on a ‘Not For Profit’ basis, with most day-to-day running undertaken by volunteers and members of our committee. This support helps in keeping membership and court fees much lower than other squash clubs, with arguably superior facilities.

From time to time we will put the word out if we require the help in a particular department, but in general terms if you would like to get involved and offer a little of your free time to progress the club please send us a message here.
